Energy

As a rock becomes a river,
And a cliff breaks into wind,
The source lets down its lever
And life again begins.
As a cloud bursts into atoms
And a mountain swaps for sand,
The trees grow high, then tumble over,
And are swallowed by the land.
A lion’s strength will waver
And its bones give way to rust,
Which worms will swarm all over,
And so it is with us.
But there’s no such thing as death.
Though the sun may eat the moon,
And human life may all be over
Before so very soon,
The soul goes on forever.
And energy must last,
It just drifts along to somewhere
Where it forgets the past.
Your path is like a river,
All around is like the wind.
The source lets down its lever,
And life again begins.
